HP Coaching programme aligns with Silver Ferns

New Zealand’s elite coaches will again get to learn from the best when the High Performance Coach Development (HPCD) programme runs alongside the Silver Ferns international calendar.

Nine coaches from around the country will sit in on upcoming Silver Ferns camps and campaigns where they can glean information from Netball World Cup winning coach Dame Noeline Taurua.

Both Taurua and assistant coach Debbie Fuller will take part and a number of mentor coaches have also been invited to various camps.

Next year’s ANZ Premiership head coaches will assemble at different times including new Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse coach Gail Parata along with New Zealand Under 21 coach Yvette McCausland-Durie and assistants Pelesa Semu and Temepara Bailey.

National Manager of Coach Development Tania Karauria said the programme worked well last year and was looking forward to seeing it in action again.

"We are in our second year of continuing to grow the depth of coach at domestic and international level with game knowledge and a greater awareness to deliver results under pressure,” Karauria said.

“By working alongside Silver Ferns coaches Dame Noeline and Deb Fuller, with the various squads and management teams, provides an aligned approach across the high performance system.

The key objectives for the international programme are creating leading-edge trainings, leading-edge management teams and service providers, and what it takes to bring the campaign plan to life.”

The Silver Ferns will meet in Wellington from 6-8 October for their first camp and will be joined by Helene Wilson (Mystics), Amigene Metcalfe (Magic) and Reinga Bloxham (Steel).

Marianne Delaney-Hoshek (Tactix), Parata and Kiri Wills (Stars) will also head to Wellington from the second camp from 13-15 October which will also include McCausland-Durie, Semu and a mentor coach.

The Cadbury Netball Series is part of the HPCD programme in Palmerston North where Wills, Delaney-Hoshek, Parata, McCausland-Durie and Bailey will be involved with the Silver Ferns, New Zealand A or NZ U21 teams.

McCausland-Durie, Metcalfe and Wilson will come together for the New Zealand A versus England game in Hamilton on 26 October while Bloxham has been invited to the Taini Jamison Cup in Hamilton from 27 October to 3 November for the series against England.
