Hall of Fame launch opens NNZ centenary celebrations

In a history-making year, the long-awaited Netball New Zealand Hall of Fame will be launched at a special evening of celebration during Netball New Zealand’s 97th AGM in Auckland on 24 February.

The Hall of Fame’s first intake of 12 inductees will herald the start of an ongoing catalogue of nation-wide centenary celebrations across the netball community throughout 2024 in recognition of NNZ’s 100-year anniversary.

Inductees can be nominated from all areas of netball including administrators, players, coaches, umpires and support staff.

In its centenary year, the Hall of Fame provides NNZ the opportunity to recognise those who have dedicated their lives to the betterment of netball, from elite level athletes to those working tirelessly behind the scenes.

It’s exciting to be celebrating our status as the first nation in the world to reach 100 years of netball and to mark that with the launch of our Hall of Fame,” NNZ Chief Executive Jennie Wyllie said.

It is humbling to acknowledge and honour all the many great people who, across various roles, have left their legacy on netball’s wonderful progress in the community and standing on the world sporting stage where it is now well-prepared to push on to greater heights in the future.”
