Cadbury Volunteer of the Month: Vanessa O’Brien

Vanessa O’Brien is the netball coordinator and the social team coach at Garin College in Nelson.

Not only is she super organised, she has the student’s best interests in mind always, and a passion for growing players and coaches.

“I love it, love seeing confidence grow”, Vanessa said of watching players and student coaches thrive in the environment she has created for their development.

Lynnette Butler, an adult coach at the school loves the culture she gets to be a part of under Vanessa’s hand - “as a coach, she makes you feel really welcome, valued and supported.”

“Vanessa’s commitment outside of Netball is also really huge” said Sarah Rankin, the Premier Team Coach, referring to Vanessa’s nine month old baby, who is a regular on the side-lines and her two daughters who she also supports in their own netball endeavours.
