Netball New Zealand (NNZ) is excited to confirm Saturday afternoon games during the 2024 ANZ Premiership season will be broadcast live on Sky Sport and shown free-to-air on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+.
NNZ chief executive Jennie Wyllie said they were delighted that this agreement with Sky and TVNZ means that one match a week will be available to all New Zealanders.
“We’re excited to be able to offer free-to-air netball at a family friendly time of 4pm on Saturday afternoons in the knowledge that the next generation of young New Zealand netballers have the opportunity to watch their idols in action on television,” she said.
“It’s going to be a ‘Super Saturday’ for our netball fans with afternoon games at an ideal time to sit back and watch the action live on TVNZ 2 or TVNZ+.”
It means 15 free-to-air round robin matches will be broadcast live to fans around the country during the 2024 season, with all 45 matches of the regular season available on Sky Sport.
TVNZ’s General Manager, Sport and Events, Melodie Robinson said it was great to once again partner with NNZ and Sky.
“The ANZ Premiership showcases incredible netballers taking to the court with their skills and flair. We’re excited to be working with Netball NZ and Sky to offer Kiwis the opportunity to watch their much-loved sport across the motu each Saturday on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+,” added Robinson.
Sky CEO Sophie Moloney said: “We’re delighted to work with Netball NZ and TVNZ to offer Saturday afternoon netball to all New Zealanders, live on Sky and shown on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+. We are keen to support our partner Netball NZ to grow the fan base for netball across Aotearoa NZ, and this initiative is one way we can look to attract more Kiwis to watch the best netballers in action in the ANZ Premiership in 2024.
The 2024 ANZ Premiership opens on Saturday 13 April when AVIS Magic host the defending champion MG Mystics in Hamilton, while the Stars go up against Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse on 14 April, and the Trident Homes Tactix host the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel on Sunday 15 April.
