Top New Zealand Umpires appointed to IUA Testing Panel
Some of New Zealand’s best and brightest Netball umpires have been announced on the Oceania International Umpires Award (IUA) Testing Panel (ITP).
Fay Meiklejohn and Jan Teesdale have been confirmed to the Oceania ITP for three year appointments, with Colleen Bond and Dave Palaamo both taking up two year appointments.
Roles on the ITP are voluntary, with the Panel in place for the testing of umpires for the International Umpires’ Award (IUA) and the coaching of elite umpires.
Jono Bredin has been confirmed as the Oceania regions ITP Cadet, providing support in the identification and training of elite umpires as well as providing a pool of talent for future ITP appointments.
Meiklejohn (Netball Northern) attended the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana in her role on the ITP. She is also a National Umpire Squad Coach along with Bond (Netball South) and Teesdale (Netball Waikato/Bay of Plenty), who are both also part of the NZ Umpire Development Group providing support, guidance and advice to local umpires within their respective Zones.
Palaamo (Netball Mainland) is an ANZ Premiership Performance Reviewer, providing valuable input to the Umpire Coaches in New Zealand’s elite domestic Netball competition, and is also a NNZ Umpire Selector.
INF International Umpiring Manager (IUM), Christina Davidson, said “This is a really important activity to complete for international umpiring and the INF is pleased to be working with those appointed in this role to set world class standards in international officiating.”
Netball New Zealand congratulates all ITP and ITP Cadet members on their appointments and wishes them well for their upcoming duties.
The INF Oceania Region made up of seven full members including New Zealand, Cook Islands, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Samoa and Vanuatu, along with associate member Solomon Islands.
