Holly Fowler has been ruled out of the NZU21 team for Netball World Youth Cup Gaborone 2017.

The talented defender ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee during a team practice match for her ANZ Premiership team, the Northern Stars.

NZU21 coach Kiri Wills says she is disappointed for Holly.

“This is terrible news for Holly. She has been a key member of our NZU21 squad and a leader amongst the group,” Wills said.

“We all know how determined Holly is and know that she will dedicate herself to her rehab to ensure she returns to the court stronger in 2018.”

Fowler was awarded the Aspiring Silver Fern at the 2016 NZ Netball Awards and had signed with the Northern Stars for the ANZ Premiership. She will remain a member of the Silver Ferns Development Squad.
