Diane Tasker awarded the Exceptional Service to School Sport Award
Diane Tasker has been awarded the Exceptional Service to School Sport Award from the New Zealand Secondary Schools Sports Council (NZSSSC).
Paula Wells from the NZSSSC board and Principal of Sacred Heart New Plymouth presented Tasker the award at the Lower North Island Secondary Schools (LNISS) Netball Championships held in New Plymouth.
Wells mentioned the significance of the award and acknowledged Tasker for her hours of volunteer work undertaken in Netball. Tasker has given over 20 years of service to organise the LNISS Netball Championships which attracts over 80 teams a year. This service is important in ensuring that thousands of girls have a positive school Netball experience.
When Tasker was asked why she loves being involved with Netball she pointed to the bustling courts and said, “It is not about me it is about those out there”. A lady of few words, but a lady of many actions behind the scenes that often nobody sees.
As well as organising LNISS Netball Championships for 20 years, Tasker has been involved in many other aspects of Secondary School Netball including umpiring, umpire coaching and other administrative work.
Netball New Zealand are delighted that Tasker’s service to LNISS Netball Championships has been recognised as her contribution has had a significant impact on Secondary School Netball in the Central Zone.
